Oral Contraceptives Should Be Hot Pink & Glow in the Dark!

Well Hello! It’s so nice to have you back! I’ve got a fresh pot of controversy ready to go...

This topic is a bit, well... kind of on the private side, but I know I can chat with you about it and you’ll laugh with me and hopefully not at me! It’s about my birth control method, oral contraceptives, you know, the pill. I must say, somebody up above has a good sense of humor when it comes to me and the pills that I take!

The predicaments I find myself in, to avoid having another child have been rather amusing through the years and I was reminded the other night how silly one can behave when looking for an object that is a hair bigger than a pinhead and blends so nicely on the granite countertop! As I was searching the countertop, yet again, I thought to myself, “Why do the manufacturers make these pills so hard to see? And why do I keep putting the darn pill on the counter when getting my glass of water if I can’t ever find where I left it? I would make the pills hot pink or fluorescent orange if I had my way!” Then my mind recalled pill dilemmas from the past and I had to giggle.

Pushing the microscopic pill from the plasticky, tinfoil bubble onto the palm of my hand has always been easy enough, except on the rare occasion(s) that the pill would pop out too far and go skydiving down, down, down into the abyss known as the kitchen floor and I’m hoping to hear the tiny pill land on the tile and not on the carpet so as to know approximately the point of its final destination. On my hands and knees is of course about the right time when Hubby enters the kitchen and says, “Dropped your pill again?” Now both of us are on all fours and thank goodness it’s late in the night as the children are sleeping and there is no need to explain to them why Mommy & Daddy are crawling around on the kitchen floor acting like dogs who are searching for that last bit of food crumbs left behind from dinner.

Then there’s the “I forgot to take my pill” quandary. Who made up the stupid rule that you have to take the pill at exactly the same time 24 hours later? Don’t they know I’m never on time for anything? Yikes! Do I take 2 pills to make up for my lateness? Skip one day, double up on the next? Oh, okay, I’ll try that... Like I said, God is a comedian and I’m surprised that I don’t have more kids!
Goodness me, I have been rattling on and on not realizing that the pot is empty. Thanks for stopping by I need to go and powder my nose and, oh yes... take my pill!

Ta Ta for now! xoxo

  1. Oh -- pill problems, I remember them well!! The colors are definitely an issue. I once had one that was such a neutral color it disappeared completely into any surface. Of course, I nearly NEVER remembered to take them, so the color problem was only a minor glitch in my world. The not taking of them is pretty much why only ONE of my kids was planned. :/

After 5 kids passed their watermelon-ness through my poor little self I told the Hubster to take his junk in for a clip and snip cuz I was out of the baby making business!

I recommend the clip and snip highly, as the sex life improves significantly when the question of did I or did I not take that damned pill is not interfering with FUN!!

  2. I wish my husband would go in for the clip and snip... after all I've been under the knife a few times myself... but he's terrified, and a great dad so I cut him some slack.
I'm not fond of my current method... but I don't want to go back to searching for microscopic pills on counter tops either.
I hope you find what your looking for.

  3. The thought of you and hubby on the floor looking for a tiny pill made me laugh out loud.
I agree, why exactly 24 hours? It should allow a couple hours grace period. Who can remember to do the same thing every 24 hours? Crazy.

  4. Yet another reason for me to just say "ah, screw it" and avoid taking those things altogether. Lmao!

  5. I agree with Momma C... the sex life is MUCH better after the snip. My husband volunteered to have it done after our second daughter because we both knew we were done and I had already had enough medical problems that he didn't want me to have surgery. It sure is nice to not have to worry AT ALL about getting pregnant unexpectedly. I could never remember to take my pill on time, either. Good luck with finding a way to get the manufacturers to make the pills hot pink. They should come with timers on the box, too!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that can be forgetful and colorblind! Cups up! xoxo

  8. I'm boycotting *** like a college Women's Studies major until hubby gives in and goes to 'Peaceful Vasectomies' (that's an actual place) but he's dragging his feet like it's the end of the world. I agree that hot pink pills would be super cute but at this point I would keep them locked in my holster while I stick to my proverbial guns!

  10. Well, Nature has done me an odd sort of favor and now I don't have to worry about birth control at all. Yes, hubbie's still around and we still do the nasty, but no concerns about accidental tax deductions cropping up.

If I took pills, I would vote for Hot Pink!

  11. Well CBB, I'm glad I could help jostle the memory! Thanks for stopping by. xoxo

Aleta, you and me both! The thought of crawling around the kitchen floor gets me every time! xoxo

  12. Thanks for the laugh.... I thought that I was the only one to ever get down on all fours to look for a silly white pill. It's the same feeling as when you lose your banking card,,, panic!! lol!
I gave the pill up and opted for an IUD,, because my hubby wouldn't get the "clip and snip" LOL
I'm LOVING the Iud,, I got to say goodbye to pills and tampons!!! It doesn't get much better than that!! New follower, love your posts!!

  14. I completely agree with you! I think there is some sort of conspiracy. I can't tell you how many times I have dropped a pill on the ground and had to get on my hands and knees and search the floor before my dog found it.

  26. I am dying of laughter at this post!

I've been thinking of going on the pill (not for its intended purpose, as I am lady-gay.) but more for regular periods. I'm totally dragging my feet with it though as I'm not fond of visiting a OB/GYN. -pulls a face- Perhaps one day I'll go, and bring the girlfriend with me, for emotional support as a complete stranger is paid to stare between my legs and prod about.

But these stories of microscopic pills and such. I'm reconsidering my idea....AGAIN! -grin-

  27. Hello Remy, Welcome, welcome! I guess I never thought about the OB/GYN as a paid stranger... hmmmm... you're making me think! lol Thanks for stopping by... Cups Up! xoxo

  28. You said it so well! I find myself in the dark in our bedroom ratching about through my top bedside drawer for the darn thing! I find empty packets of paracetamols, empty packets of the said pill, before the actual packet of month I am on at that time! Then of course its too dark to actually see the day I'm on, so find my mobile phone to give off some light, then as quiet as I can, so I don't wake the kids, pop the pill out of the packet and then hopefully catch it and also hopefully I've remembered to bring a glass of water to bed with me, or its off into the ensuite to drink it down with some water drank out of the tap! Oh I am SO organised! :) Its a pain every night! Good post!
