Well Hello my Darling Friend... so glad you’re here as I need to relieve some tension and chatting with you will make me feel oh so much better. I’ve been going bonkers lately, each and every time I step into the young girls section of the store I’m in... and I need to vent and scream and kick up my heels... but first... let me fill your cup...
Okay, now... so the last time we spoke about fashion my Dear, we chatted about shorts for girls and how short is too short for a young girl? I know, I know, it’s the parents’ responsibility to purchase or to not purchase and the freedom of blah, blah, blah... hmmph, makes my lipstick smudge!
So I got a bit out of hand with my thoughts about short shorts on very little girls... I bought a new lipstick, got over it and felt much better... and then, a few days later I went to the girls’ undie section in Target. I never really paid attention to this section except when I needed a 6 pack of panties or a package of socks...
I was looking for camis or tanks for Littlest to wear for sleeping, you know, it’s summer time and I thought something cool and comfortable to wear for bed would be a good thing for this time of the year. When I got to the girls underwear section... I... about... fainted!
OH MY GAWD!! Are you fricken kidding me??? Breathe Caffe, breathe...
I completely understand the adjustments in uhhh... well... you know! A young girl’s body goes through many transformations and one of the changes is a new piece of underwear that fits around the chest area... A bra. In the very beginning, a camisole or a half tank, an undershirt... these are sufficient coverage for the very young and it also opens dialogue with your daughter about what to expect in the near future.
See the picture up above? Uh huh, looks like the women's bra section in the store doesn’t it? Take a closer look... It’s the girls’ section!!
There were padded, molded, sculpted, wired, wireless and demi bras... for a 9 year old?? How much sculpting can you do with a young girl’s chest? Nope! I don’t even want to think about it as thinking about it will make the powder on my nose crust up! What next? Garter belts and crotchless panties??
Who thinks this is a good idea? *Ahem...Hanes* And why are they making undergarments that suggest sexuality at such a young age? Because a push-up demi is not exactly something a young girl would wear to the neighborhood park... is it? Unless they are wearing their low cut T-shirt trying to attract all the boys playing trucks in the sand!
Am I soooo old fashioned in my ways of reasoning when it comes to push-up bras for the very young? What do you think Darling?
Hmmmph... the pot is empty and my lipstick is smeared all over my cup! I think I’ll go buy a dozen new lipsticks to soothe my frazzled nerves... that should do the trick, I’m feeling much better already just thinking about it! I’ll just stay in the lipstick aisle and not look anywhere else for at least several more years and I’ll also pretend that my Littlest will stay little forever... I don’t think I’ll be breaking my lipstick habit ways anytime soon... Until next time my Dear Friend, stay lovely... Ta Ta!
Oooh, Vote Reminder Darling... Please Vote... HERE Thank you sooooo much my Dear Friend! xoxo
What in the world????? Thank goodness I have a boy!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts EXACTLY Darling... xoxo
DeleteI so agree, Caff! It is very frustrating trying to fine a good, plain, training bra for a young girl, something a bit thicker than a camisole...very frustrating!!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you my Dear... xoxo
DeleteI completely agree and so does my daughter! She refuses to wear one of these stupid things.
ReplyDeleteStupid? Absolutely Darling... xoxo
DeleteOh my! Why would a young girl need such a thing?! Uh uh... I don't think so *shaking finger and sassy head roll*
ReplyDeleteYou GO with your sassy swagger Darling! lol xoxo
DeleteI had no idea! I have only sons so never go in the little girl section. This is unbelievable. I am disgusted. I think we need to start a letter-writing campaign to Hanes. What do you say?
ReplyDeleteLe... le... letter campaign? lol It IS a good idea Darling... xoxo
DeleteWHY in the HELL would a 9 year old need a push up bra. What next? Get your own poll for your 9 year old's bedroom? Wanna bet that is coming up next because for some reason being a stripper now a days is considered cool and a good career choice. I am so locking my daughter in her bedroom until she is 30
ReplyDeleteMake sure you have an extra key made... lol xoxo
DeleteI agree with you. In some ways though, I don't. I have a daughter who's 13 and she still shops in the girls section so I have seen this section before. There are no push-up bras over there. My daughter doesn't wear this, but some girls her age are more developed and training bras aren't enough for them so they have the choice to get a padded bra. I understand what you are saying, but the girls section isn't just for girls 9 or younger. At 9, most girls don't even need a training bra.
ReplyDeleteHello A Darling, so glad you stopped by and shared your point of view... Girls that are 13 and over don't exist in my life right now and I'm sure these types of bras are appropriate for them. My Littlest is 4 years younger and well... it makes my lipstick smudge! Thanks for visiting... xoxo
DeleteI'm 10 and I wear a padded bra DEAL WITH IT! This makes me so angry just oh my dear god! Your acting like you 8! Okay! Some girls just need it and half the girls at my school wear them so it's not a big deal! I am thought to be 14 because of the fact of ehem... But it is not because of a bra! It is simply because of the fact that I developed before many people at my school!
ReplyDeleteOh MY! Aren't YOU a Darling thing!! Mikyla my young little lipstick lover, you must know that this forum is not for a 10 year old and does your Mother know you're reading adult content? You've mistaken what this post is REALLY all about. I absolutely get the fact that there are some who need bras younger than others, but we don't need you being older than you already are. You'll understand that one day my Dear. And I also don't think that your parents would like the fact that their 10 year old baby girl looks like a 14 year old. They love you way too much! Off you go my Dear... as much of my posts are topics that will go waaay over your head, and thank goodness too! Come back when you're at least 18 when you can understand and enjoy the humor of Caffe's personality... Ta Ta! xoxo
DeleteI am 11 years old and I think that wearing a padded bra at 10 years old I'd absolutely ridiculous. I don't think that girls should look older than they are I think they should just be themselves!
ReplyDeleteWell Helloooooo my Darling little Anonymous! Aren't YOU a smart little future lipstick lover! Yes, yes... I couldn't agree more... BE yourself and everyone around will ABSOLUTELY ADORE YOU! Take note my Dear, they ALL absolutely ADORE meeeeee! xoxo
DeleteI think that if a girl (no matter how young) has big nipples and a normal training bra can not hide then then she deserves some padding. Or if most of the girls at her school or most of her friends are developing faster then her she might want some padding to boost her confidence.
ReplyDeleteMy Dear A... This post talked of PUSH UP bras. Nothing more, nothing less. I can absolutely understand wearing a lined cami and nowadays, many camis come with padding for those who are uncomfortable with their natural... ahem... sized nipples. A boost of confidence should also come from the very supportive Mommy who understands and helps her Little become a young Lady... Thanks for stopping by! Ta ta... xoxo
DeleteI'm almost 13 (a few days!!- can't wait!) and I barely wear a bra! I still wear a sports bra and I think a 9 or 10 year old wearing a push up bra is insane, I know 9th graders that don't!
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with push up bras in the girls section? I get those for my ten year old daughter because she developed earlier than most girls, and she has never had a problem with perverts or her school. I don't understand the problem.
ReplyDeleteI started developing faster than most of the kids in my class. I needed more support from bras earlier so I needed actual bras, as apposed to training bras, sooner. I was really insecure about it because articles like this. The bra you showed a picture of is not a push up bra. I wore a bra like that when I was nine. Growing up, everyone thought I was 3-6 years older, and no matter how I dressed. I hope your daughter grows up to be a happier, smarter, more accepting person then you have shown you are.
ReplyDeleteWe have just stuck to sports bras all the way...
ReplyDeleteHello Darling! Yes, yes... I ADORE your thinking! Cups Up! xoxo
DeleteHigh rates of childhood obesity have a link to girls developing quicker. I recently saw an obese 6 year old at my 12 year old daughter's swim practice who needed a bra. But I agree with you. A push up bra is waayy too big on a child/tween. It isn't right, nor does it look right. Also, cable has so many bad tv show, that are downright nasty, and think about music.ly. I think they're exposed to this stuff way too early, and some teens think it's "cool". I hope hanes won't start becoming hyper commercialized. It makes me just want to stop buying from big brand companies.
ReplyDeleteOk this is a really late comment but ok...I half agree with you and half not...I am 12 years old and agree with you that young girls should NOT be wearing these things until they are about my age. The only reason why I sorta don't agree with you is because if they NEED it they shall buy it. I have early puberty and started wearing padded bras when I was 9-10 years old because I needed it and had developed...things...at an early age or else I totally agree with you!
ReplyDeleteI'm a 13 year old myself, which means I probably shouldnt be here haha, but I myself do wear push up bras, but I dont feel very sexualized about it? I think older women feel like we can be pressured or that we are sexualizing ourselves more than we actual are. I wear a push up bra simply because they offer more support and are just more comfortable in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteBut, where I do think its too far is when a young girl is buying them because they're ashamed or WANT to be sexualized.
So I think it just depends on the child.
I’m 9 and I wear a padded bra so what??? I also wear thongs
